Problem

I want to restore the backup made on one hypervisor to another hypervisor.

Solution

To perform cross-site restore you must fulfill a few requirements:

  1. Both hypervisors must be of the same type. For example, it is possible to take a backup from oVirt and restore it to RHV but not to Nutanix.

  2. Nodes that are attached to hypervisors must have access to the same backup destination where the backup files are stored.

     

     

     

    If the node does not have access to backup files, the restore task will end with the following error:

    "Backup file [94a4dbda-09a0-42ef-8987-1168c738aa97: /vprotect_data_dr/vm_name__acf80c24/vm_name.raw - 2022-10-07T16:26:19+02:00 (modified: null)] was not found in the backup provider"

You can check where the backup files are stored in the restore window

Make sure that this backup destination is attached to the correct node configuration.
