Problem

What requirements Storware Backup & Recovery have for openstack SSH Transfer method?

Solution

User used for ssh to openstack host needs to have:

  • sudo access (including root user, as all commands are executed with sudo)

  • qemu-img and virsh access

After adding openstack to hypervisor managers and doing first inventory synchronization hypervisors (hosts) will be loaded to their tab in Virtual Environments -> Infrastructure.
You need to provide ssh passwords (or configure ssh keys https://storware.gitbook.io/backup-and-recovery/deployment/common-tasks/ssh-public-key-authentication ) for each host (at least one) to successfuly exectue inventory synchronization.

If you using Ceph RBD storage backend you need to configure access to ceph monitors for Storware Backup & Recovery https://storware.gitbook.io/backup-and-recovery/protecting-storage-providers/storage-providers/ceph-rbd?q=ssh+key (or the inventory synchronization will also fail).

Our documentation on configuration https://storware.gitbook.io/backup-and-recovery/protecting-virtual-machines/virtual-machines/openstack#ceph-rbd-storage-backend
